In the beautiful Defereggen Valley in the Alps a timber house waits to be insulated with straw bales and plastered with clay. In this particular case, we will wrap the house with straw bales from the inside.

The programme: Friday: Wrapping or straw bale infill training
Saturday – Thursday: various straw bale wrapping techniques (CUT wall, planking, fixing straw bales with mouldings or knock-in dowels), preparation for plastering walls, windows and bathroom (shaving and stuffing straw bales, window insulation with hemp, preparation for plastering with reed stucco and Steico Underfloor, installation of plastering strips, masking windows, wind and air tightness)

2020: Clay plaster workshop
Start: Saturday 12:00, End: Thursday 17:00
The programme: Saturday: Clay plaster training (on straw bale wall and reed stucco)
Sunday – Thursday: completion of plaster preparation for walls, windows and bathroom (window insulation with hemp, plaster preparation with reed stucco and Steico Underfloor, installation of plastering strips, window masking, wind and air tightness, substrate preparation for tiles with Fermacell, interior walls), clay roughcast

Registration fee: € 160,-/80,- students and unemployed for the whole workshop or a part (free for STEP participants), catering and overnight stay included, travel expenses are not included. Attention: Workshop postponed to 2020!
